Friday Fluff will return next week. For now... Must. Finish. Vacation. Recap.
When we left off yesterday, I was bidding adieu to Disco Dan and his fellow crazies on the Santa Monica Pier. After the beach (and a loooong Brady nap), Paul and I got to do something we haven't done in quite a while-- go out on an actual, honest-to-goodness date. Brady stayed with my dad, and off we went.
It's embarrassingly sentimental, but we decided to go to the scene of our first date (which I didn't realize was a date until I was actually there, but that's another story for another day). We had dinner at here, drinks here, did some walking around and people watching (great place for people watching, by the way), and then had some dessert here. We even stopped on the balcony where we had out first kiss (commence awwwwwww...). It was a bar at the time, but now it's just a public walkway. Somewhat less romantic, but we took a self-portrait anyway. I still like this guy a whole lot.
We tried to stay out late, but only lasted until about 11:30. So sue us. We're old.
Friday was pretty action-packed. We had breakfast with some old friends, lunch with Paul's parents, and then Brady got some pool time with Grandpa.
Friday night was one of the times I was looking forward to most out of the whole trip. I got to see my girls!
I haven't seen my beautiful Julieta in probably two years. She's been off traveling the world as the lead singer on cruise ships, and we just haven't been able to get ourselves in the same place at the same time. I missed her so much! And she finally got to meet Brady.
After a kid-filled hour playing at Erin's house, we ditched the kids with assorted grandparents and went to dinner in Pasadena. I miss these faces all the time.
If we could just Photoshop Katie (who's off reforming the government or something in DC-- love you, Katie!) into this picture, it would be perfect. It would also look just like a hundred other pictures that have been taken of the 5 of us since freshman year of high school. I love these girls!
Saturday was a loooong trip home. We were delayed in Las Vegas for over an hour (which I know is SO not a big deal, but Brady's patience with us was running thin by that point). As it turns out, whoever loaded the freight into the plane had packed the "wet freight" incorrectly, and thousands of tiny bottles of shampoo had exploded in the cargo hold of our plane. We all got to sit on the plane while they cleaned it out. It was not the best situation, but at least the cleaning crew had shiny, silky hair, right? We finally got home at about 11pm and collapsed.
And that, friends concludes my June '09 vacation recap. Bless you if you're still reading and you didn't give birth to me. You probably feel like you need a vacation now, right? :)
Happy weekend, everyone!
