No, I'm not quite finished with out vacation recap. And yes, I have a ton more pictures.
Stop rolling your eyes at me. It's not nice.
By Wednesday of our week-long trip to LA, we were pretty tired. Given that we knew Brady would be up at 5:30am, though, we made plans to meet my mom at the park at 7am. We walked to Starbucks for (life-saving) coffee and muffins, and then handed Brady over to my mother, who was thankfully much perkier than I was.
Somehow I think that Brady understands when we're extra tired, and that's when he chooses to turn on the extra cuteness. He gives super-wide open-mouthed kisses and gets all giggly and goofy.
My brother had to leave to go back to Santa Barbara that afternoon, so we spent the rest of the morning hanging out with him. We went to Monrovia (the town where we grew up) to see the forever-promised brand-new library (yes, I realize that this is a geeky thing to do on vacation) and eat at our favorite hole-in-the-wall sandwich place (mmmm... Gene's Grinders). Then it was back to my dad's house for the obligatory "everybody get out on the porch and take pictures!" portion of the trip.
That was pretty much it for Wednesday. We napped, laid around, watched tv, ate Baja Fresh (mmmmm) for dinner, and went to bed early. It had to be done.
Thursday was much more eventful. It was Beach Day.
I DO NOT go home to LA without going to the beach. I LOVE the beach. I HATE being away from the beach. My family knows not to get in my way-- we WILL be going to the beach.
Santa Monica was the verdict on this particular trip. We started at the beautiful old carousel on the pier, where you can still ride for a dollar (50 cents for kids!). Brady had fun, although it did scare him just a little (that thing goes fast!).
Then, of course, it was time to hit the sand.
We saw things that you only see in LA. A buff man in his 60's strutting down the pier in nothing but his tightie whities (it may technically have been some kind of swim suit, but it sure looked like underwear). A man who called himself "Disco Dan" grooving (poorly) for loose change in a full leisure suit. You know-- stuff like that.
I love LA.
One more day of vacation recap, then I swear I'll give it a rest. :)
I love all the piture posts! Keep 'em coming!
